Finding Shade

Towards the end of a morning game drive, I usually start scanning the shade beneath trees and bushes for sleepy animals. A few large rocks ahead of us turned out to be three tired white rhinos, cooling off in the shadow of a buffalo thorn bush. It was such a rewarding sight.
Did you know that rhinos actually love a good nap, often sleeping deeply enough that birds will perch right on their backs without them noticing.
