Hidden in the Leaves

This piece was inspired by an intense moment in the bush: a male lion in his prime, dragging a freshly caught buffalo calf towards the river to hide it among the thick trees and scrub. He was exhausted but alert, moving with a clear urgency after hearing rival lions close by. The mix of power, tension, and raw instinct in that moment stayed with me, and I recreated it using creamy, thick oil pastels to capture the weight, texture, and atmosphere of the scene.
